WELCOME!
Welcome, everyone, to our Wikispace for CTL1799. We have mutually agreed to focus on a general approach to holistic education as we all specialize in different areas of education. Each individual involved in the project has created their own dedicated corner in which they were free to construct a resource page as they deemed fit. We felt it was difficult to focus on just one particular grade, given that holistic education can be incorporated in all classrooms, regardless of grade levels. All five of us assist student learning by making connections to the community around them so that multiple layers of meaning and experience can take place both inside and outside of the school setting. We all have the commonality of helping our students problem-solve and creatively learn by tailoring our instructional strategies to fit their needs and allow them to explore their different interests and potentials. Combined, we have spent multiple years incorporating a holistic curriculum in our classes and although some are more expert than others, we collaborated to understand and apply what a holistic approach entailed. Specifically, the different techniques, tools, and strategies that we could incorporate in our own teaching as much as possible in order to help our students explore, create, construct, make meaning, and ultimately develop their whole self. This Wikispace is an anthology of our collective efforts as holistic educators and the resources, tips, and strategies we felt others looking to explore this approach might benefit from.
